Yvonne Olmstead

Yvonne (Paulk) Olmstead was born September 21, 1936 to Johnny Cash Paulk and Marie (Nickerson) Paulk north of Doby Springs. Yvonne was later joined by brothers Johnnie Cash (J.C.) Paulk, Jr. and Terry Hensley. Yvonne spent a lot time with her Aunt Della and thought of her as a second mom.  She considered Della's daughters especially Lilly and LaUna like sisters. Yvonne attended grade school at Fairview, a country school west of Laverne, then transferred to Laverne Schools, graduated with the Class of 1954. Yvonne and Bill Olmstead were united in marriage on April 2, 1954 in the Christian Church of Woodward, OK, to this union two children were born, Billy and LaDawn. Yvonne worked as a Nurse’s aide at Western State Hospital and later worked for Harper County Community Hospital until her retirement.  She enjoyed sewing and could make anything from a 3 piece suit to a child's teddy bear. Yvonne enjoyed cooking and watching old movies, was an avid reader until losing her eyesight.  She enjoyed being able to go to the coffee hour thanks to a longtime friend Wilma Wilkinson picking her up on daily basis. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Bill Olmstead, sister-in-law Carol Gokey Long, brother-in-law Harold Jay Olmstead, brother-in-law George Snow, her two brothers J.C Paulk, & Terry Hensley. Father Cash Paulk and wife Addie Paulk, her mother Marie Hensley and husband Emmett Hensley, Father-in-law Harold Olmstead and Mother-in-law Reia Olmstead.  Yvonne departed this life at her home, late evening Friday June 22, 2018, at the age of 81. Yvonne is survived by her son Billy Olmstead and wife Karlinda of Buffalo, Ok, daughter LaDawn Ramey and husband Ronald of Mooreland, Ok.  granddaughter Amber Mahlock and Rick Mahlock, grandson Adam Olmstead and wife Mackenzie, grandson Aaron Ramey and wife Celestia, granddaughter Mary Olmstead.  Great grandchildren Keeley Mahlock, Braxton, Titus, and Hunter Olmstead , Faith and Isabella Ramey.  Sister in law Ruby Stout and husband Jack, sister-in-law Juanita Snow, brother-in-law Howard Olmstead and wife Debbie, sister-in-law Marnie Olmstead, brother-in-law Clarence Long, many other relatives and special friends.
