Vernon (Sonny) Lee Nordick Jr., 86, resident of Buffalo, Oklahoma, left this life, December 3 rd 2012 at Harper County Community Hospital. Vernon was born in Aurora Colorado on March 15 th , 1926, the son of Vernon Sr. and Nora Nordick. Vernon attended school in Haswell, Colorado. On March 17 th 1948 Vernon was united in marriage to Evelyn Ruth Thomas. To this union four daughters were born, Janet, Paula, Debbie and Teresa. As a young man Vernon worked alongside his family on the Ranch in Aurora Colorado. He served in the Armed Forces as an MP in Korea. Vernon spent his working career with Colorado Interstate Gas Company as a heavy equipment operator, until retirement January 1 st 1988. He was a lifetime member of VFW Lane Day Post 3166 of Liberal, Kansas. Vernon enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, hunting, watching baseball games, along with attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, playing dominoes and drinking coffee with his friends. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn of 31 years, his mother and father Vernon Sr. and Nora Nordick. Vernon is survived by his three brothers; Willard, Larry, and Gary Nordick all of Colorado. His four daughters and Son in Laws, Janet and David Gordon of Liberal, KS; Paula and Jerry Embree of Buffalo, Oklahoma; Debra and Tom Fields of Woodward, Oklahoma and Teresa and Gary Holcomb of Waco, Texas, 14 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren other relatives and a host of friends.
