Teresa Marie Catlin, a resident of Buffalo, Oklahoma was born April 10, 1951 in Hardtner, Kansas to Howard and Marie Aitken. She spent her early childhood living in Alva, Oklahoma before moving with her family in 1958 to the Paruna Farm Community where she attended Paruna Schools until 1965. Teresa began her freshman year at Buffalo High School where she met her high school sweetheart and best friend Robert Wayne (Bob) Catlin. After graduating her senior year with the class of 1969, she attended Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma where she received a bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 1974 and Masters in Education in 1977.
After college graduation, Teresa and Bob were united in marriage on July 23, 1972 at the First Baptist Church of Buffalo, Oklahoma. They made their home in Buffalo, where she taught first grade at Buffalo Grade School for three (3) years before starting a family. After introducing their first of four children, Susan Marie in 1976, Teresa decided to stay home and devote her time to her children and their activities. Once her children were grown, Teresa re-entered the workforce and became certified in home health care, where she loved working for and helping people until the time her health limited her.
Teresa was a devoted Christian who was very active and involved with both the Paruna First Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Buffalo. Some of the activities Teresa will be remembered for within the church are her joys in singing in the choir and teaching youth and children about Christ through VBS, team kids, church camp, and Sunday school.
Teresa’s true happiness in life was devoting her time to her family, especially towards her eleven (11) grandchildren. She was always going to or from the kid’s 4-H events, school activities, sporting events, extracurricular activities and anything that involved supporting and cheering on her children and grandchildren. She loved helping people in need and took joy in giving so much of her time and love towards her family, church and community. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mom, and grandma.
