Randall Alvin Mings was born June 4th 1953, in Red Oak Iowa to Alvie Mings and Eldean Shearer Mings. At a young age his family moved to Englewood Kansas, where he attended school until the 8th grade. He then attended Ashland High School, but ultimately dropped out to work. Randy spent his younger years enjoying life working for the Krier Ranch in Ashland Kansas. On May 27th, 1970 he married Nancy Thomas in Englewood KS. From this marriage, two daughters were born Beverly Jo Mings and Randi Jo Mings Booth. On December 18th, 1979, Randy married Kathy Adams. From this marriage, their son Randy Pike Chrisp was born. Randall has always been known as a rambler, never staying in one place too long. His life mostly consisted of cowboy jobs at various feedlots and ranches anywhere from Southwest Kansas to the Panhandle of Texas. Randy found pleasure in listening to great country music and going to the dance halls on Saturday nights. Randy also enjoyed traveling with Steve Herd and others hauling plot dogs, staying and hunting at bear camps in over 20 states. Steve could always count on Randy to join him on all his traveling adventures. In 2007, Randy finally decided to settle down in the Slapout/Laverne area to be closer to family. During these years, Randy attended and supported his grandchildren’s activities, and farmed for Allen Jett and others. Randy enjoyed living in the Slapout Community telling stories, and trading veggies and books with many of his friends. Randy referred to himself as an extra bodyguard to the ladies working in the Slapout Store. He always requested his tea to be extra strong with burnt biscuits or toast. There is no doubt that Randy enjoyed his life the way he wanted too. Randall Alvin Mings joined his heavenly father on Monday March 25th, 2024.
