Rosa Maxine Lamunyon, 93, of Woodward, Oklahoma passed away November 22, 2024. She was born on January 6, 1931, in Mount Judea, Arkansas to Lester and Nettie Greenhaw. Maxine was the youngest of six children, just two minutes after her twin sister, Gelene. Their dad was a farmer and carpenter in Mount Judea. Their mom raised the children, grew vegetables, cared for chickens, and helped on the farm. Maxine and her siblings frequently visited their grandparents nearby and enjoyed family gatherings. At a young age, Maxine would make quilts and develop her strong work ethic from her parents. During her high school years, she moved to Harrison, Arkansas and spent a lot of time with her Aunt Minnie. Her love of fashion blossomed from Aunt Minnie bringing home clothing and perfume for the twins. Maxine played basketball in high school and her love of basketball continued throughout her life. Maxine joined her brother, Dawse, at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas shortly after high school graduation. Here she met Edgar Lamunyon, and they were married in 1952. Shortly after, they began their family and had three children in their thirty years of marriage. Maxine and Ed moved their family to Buffalo, OK in the early 1960s where they bought a small restaurant that would be known locally as the “Dairy Boy” and become a popular hangout. Maxine worked at the restaurant daily raising her kids and grandkids there until it was sold in the mid-2000s. In the 1970’s Maxine also bought a clothing store that would become Maxine’s Fashions. Eventually, she took the store and moved it to Woodward, OK. The store would thrive in Woodward, and she enjoyed her annual trips to Dallas, TX going to market, looking for new trends and lines to carry. Maxine’s work ethic was unmatched. She remained independent and continued working at her clothing store until she fell sick in August of 2024. Maxine left an imprint on everybody’s life she touched including her loyal customers that became some of her closest friends. Rosa went by many names; Maxine, Aunt Mackey, Aunt Maxi, Mom and Grandmother but her favorite was Great Grandmother. She loved supporting her great grandchildren and was always curious how they were doing in school. She enjoyed spending holidays with her family and making a delicious meal to be devoured. She enjoyed gathering around the television to watch movies, football and Thunder basketball games. When the entire family gathered, love and laughter filled the atmosphere.
