Lois Shuman

d. October 7, 2022

Buffalo, OK

Lois Marie Shuman was born in Laverne, Oklahoma on July 23, 1942 to Claude Allen and Lula Bell (Kinney) Ham.  Lois grew up on her humble family farm milking cows and gathering eggs where she developed the strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life.  Lois graduated from Laverne High School in 1960 and attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she enrolled in accounting and various business classes.  Lois married Marvin Shuman on May 6, 1967 in Laverne, Oklahoma.  The couple began their life together in Buffalo and purchased the Friendly Service Corner a few years later.  Lois was the bookkeeper and performed many other tasks at the family business all while managing the home and caring for her two sons whom she loved dearly. Lois was a great Christian example for her boys and everyone around her.  She was always prepared, detailed, and organized and served her family with love.  Lois enjoyed attending her son’s many sporting events and activities and later took the same pleasure watching her grandson’s various sporting events.  Lois took pride in serving her family and Community.  She was a Cub Scout Den Leader for her boys and was a member of the Liberty Extension Club, volunteering to enter baking and crafting items at the county fair.  Lois also served her church and community by helping provide meals at the First Baptist Church for youth events, funerals, and weddings.  Lois cherished her family and loved their many ski trips, camping adventures and Rocky Mountain getaways.  She loved to travel and would jump at the chance for any expedition with Marvin her beloved husband of 55 years.  She was also an avid walker and logged several miles most every day with her special friend Lois Jackson, among others.   Lois always looked forward to spending time with her lady friends at the Thursday Morning Bible Study Class. She was so honored that her sweet friends came to visit often and truly enjoyed their fellowship together.  Lois went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on October 7, 2022 with her family by her side.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lula Ham; In-laws, Orville and Margaret Shuman; Nephew, Shane Mundell; Sister-in-law, Mary Ann and husband Garland Harmon.  Lois is survived by her husband, Marvin Shuman; sons, Greg Shuman and wife Melissa of Buffalo, Oklahoma, Jeff Shuman and wife Linda of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Grandsons, Max Shuman of Buffalo, Rocky and Brody Shuman of Bartlesville; Sister, Lola Mundell and husband Terry of Rosston, Oklahoma; Sister-in-law, Karen Gall and husband Gary of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and other family and friends.  Lois will be missed dearly by her family, church family, and special fellowship friends.  Family suggest memorial to the First Baptist Church Parsonage Fund or the Buffalo Fire Fighters Association in care of Wilkinson Funeral Service, PO Box 302, Buffalo, Oklahoma 73834.
