LOIS CLARK

BUFFALO, OK

 

Lois was born at home in rural Harper County on December 1, 1934, to John and Leslie Hughes. Lois grew up in the rural Bethany Community and attended grade school in a one room country school.  Lois attended and graduated high school at Buffalo High School. After graduation Lois attended Beauty College in Enid, Oklahoma. Lois then returned to Buffalo to begin her career as a beautician.  While in Buffalo Lois met and married the love of her life Carl Clark on March 12, 1955.  Lois and Carl moved to Colby, Kansas and started their family.  A few years later Lois and Carl moved back to Buffalo where they established their life long home. They had two children; a boy, Clarence and a girl, De’ett.  Lois grew up in the Assembly of God Church, where as a young girl, she enjoyed playing the accordion and piano in church. Lois would then later attend the Baptist Church for many years where she raised her family. Later in her life, Lois became a member of the First Christian Church, where she attended church with her children and grandchildren.  Lois had a great love for the Lord and served wherever she could.  Lois worked at the Harper County Journal for many years.  Later in life Carl and Lois owned and operated the Cino Theater.  Lois loved flowers and decided to follow her dream of having a flower shop and she opened Clark’s Flowers, of which she operated until she retired.  Lois's world revolved around her husband and family. Lois loved playing games and cards with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she treasured spending time with all of them. Lois loved traveling and going on family vacations; some of those adventures took her to Hawaii, California, Branson, Florida, and The Caribbean Islands.  Lois was an active member of the Red Hats Club.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leslie Hughes, brother, Verlin Hughes, sister, Doris Thrasher, son, Clarence Clark, grandson, Brian Appleton.  Lois went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 19, 2023.  Lois is survived by her Husband Carl Clark of Buffalo, OK; Daughter De'ett Appleton and Husband Bruce, of Buffalo, OK; Grandchildren Natasha Baird and husband Kip, of Edmond, OK.  B.J. Appleton and wife Nancy, of Wheatland, WY.  The Lord blessed Lois with 6 great grandchildren Copper & Dret Baird, of Edmond, OK; Riley, Blaze, Cabela & Sylas Appleton, of Wheatland, WY. Along with other family and friends.  Lois will be truly missed by all. 

Funeral Service will be at 11:00AM Wednesday August 23, 2023, in the First Christian Church Buffalo, OK.  with the burial to follow in the High Point cemetery, Buffalo, OK.
