Laura Rosetta (Nielsen) Love was born at home in rural Laverne, OK on August 13, 1943 to Andy and Ella (Kinser) Nielsen. As a young girl, Laura and her brother Carl Dean and parents lived on the farm near Laverne, then moved to La Junta, Co to operate a full service laundry. After a few years in Colorado they moved back to Oklahoma and lived in Shattuck for a while and eventually moved back to Laverne where they owned and operated a laundry for many years. Laura attended Laverne schools for 12 years and graduated in 1962. She was married to Mike Miller from 1962 to 1968. She attended beauty school in 1969 and went to work for Blanche Tindell in Buffalo, she later began working for Neta Carter in Laverne and continued there until she opened her own salon in Laverne. Laura’s Kut -n- Kurl was her pride and joy and she spent many hours there visiting with and enjoying her customers and co-workers. Laura married Benny Ray Love in June 1983. They were happily married for nearly 23 years before Benny passed away in February 2006. Two years later Laura moved to Amarillo where she spent her remaining years. She was blessed with 3 children Kelly, Paige & Andrea and 3 more David, Jo, & Matthew after her union with Benny. She had a total of 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, which she loved dearly, and enjoyed spending time with them as often as she could. She spent many hours on needlework projects, cross-stitch, crocheted doilies and afghans which she loved to give away to her family and friends. Laura was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laverne where she enjoyed singing with the choir and praising God. She loved music, especially gospel music and spent many hours online with Christian friends sharing songs, sending encouraging emails and sharing her love for Jesus with others. Laura was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease two years ago and has resided at “The Cottages” assisted living facility in Amarillo since that time. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Ella; husband, Benny; and step son, Mark. Laura went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 72, on June 7, 2016. Laura leaves as her survivors, brother; Carl Dean and wife Deanna (Nielsen) of Woodward, OK, Kelly Miller and wife Millie, Paige Johnston and husband Scotty of Amarillo, TX, Andrea Herren and husband Rod of Alva, OK, David Love and wife Jan and Jo Love of Laverne, OK, Matthew Love and wife Pam of Slapout OK. Granchildren are Juliane Miller, Michael Miller, Drew & Lani Johnston, Alex Johnston, Kelsey Johnston, Bralyn Leatherbury, Elija Herren, Lynell Johnston, Daphne Herren, Kenny Love, Jessica Love, Telia McGuire, Lori & Derek Carnagey, Rusty & Hope McGuire, and Aaron McCandeless. Great grandchildren are, Riley, Xavier, Aleana, Talon, Teagan, Trex, Zadie, Dax and Miles, other relatives and many friends.
