Karen Klein

d. November 28, 2020

Karen Paige Easterday Brinson Klein was born on April 22, 1939 to Clinton and Mary Jane (Ashcraft) Easterday in Ashland, Kansas. She passed from this life on November 28, 2020 in Garden City, Kansas. Karen married Dwain Jonathan Brinson on February 22, 1959. They met at the Arnett dance. They lived in Laverne and were the proud parents of Clif, Brenda, Jonathan, Mary Jane and Mark. After Dwain’s passing in 1993, Karen and Robert Klein were united in marriage in 2000 and currently resided in Hanston, Kansas. Karen Paige was raised on a farm outside of Englewood, Kansas. She loved her middle name and was one of the very first people she ever knew of with the name “Paige”. She knew quite a few that were named after her. She had many fond memories of the farm life and had such a happy childhood. Karen was baptized at the Christian Church in Englewood. She loved going to Church Camp. A highlight from Karen’s childhood were the three month long trips to Port Aransas Texas where her dad would fish and her mom homeschooled them on the beach. When she was 10 years old, her mom began to get sick with cancer and so she taught Karen how to sew, cook and clean. Karen lost her mom when she was 12 and became a second mom to her little sister, Carma Freeman. She later in high school moved in with Don and Vivian McKinney so that she could graduate from Englewood schools. Karen attended school in Englewood, Kansas and graduated as valedictorian in 1957. She attended NWOSU and graduated with her secretarial degree. Her careers were secretary, bank teller, professional wallpaper hanger, driveway alarm business co-owner, but most of all her pride and joy was in her family. Karen was talented in so many ways playing many musical instruments including the accordion.  She was the best wife, mom and Gigi. She loved to garden, paint pictures, make blankets, play cards and loved hummingbirds and purple martins. She also loved attending anything involving her family and being on the dance floor was her happy place. Her Faith was her constant companion her entire life and she loved her Savior Jesus Christ. The best tribute to Karen would be for every person to seek Jesus in their own life. She is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sibling, her husband Dwain Brinson and her daughter Brenda Kay. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Klein of Hanston, Kansas, Brothers C.J. Easterday of Wichita, Kansas, Conrad Easterday of Pratt, Kansas and Chester Easterday of Wichita, Kansas. Sisters Carma Freeman of Kansas City, Missouri and Lula Easterday of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Son Clif (Bobbie) Brinson of Laverne, Oklahoma, Jonathan (Martina) Brinson of Humble, Texas and Mark Brinson of Humble, Texas.  Daughter Mary Jane (Gary) Pope of Laverne, Oklahoma.
