Jerry Wayne Hinnant was born on August 26, 1939 in Burkburnett, Texas and passed away on January 6, 2022 at Harper County Community Hospital in Buffalo, Oklahoma. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his son Jay (Shelby), a sister and brother, many grandchildren and friends, and his beloved dog Trixie. After high school, Jerry joined the Army and worked as a radar technician stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Jerry married the love of his life, Carolyn in 1963. They had two sons, Jay Wayne and Leroy Staton, who passed away at the age of 21, on July 29, 1988. The family moved from Arnett, Oklahoma to Roosevelt, Utah before settling in DuBois, Wyoming for over 20 years. After brief stints in Oregon and Kansas, Jerry and Carolyn moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Buffalo where they lived until his passing.
Jerry worked several jobs over the years including working in the oil fields, and as a transportation specialist for the forestry service. His true passion, however, was his family. Jerry loved his family dearly and cherished the time he got to spend visiting with them. Jerry also loved collecting, specifically Hot Wheels cars, knives, and guns. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, a proud Army Veteran, and lifelong animal lover.
Jerry's final wish was to be cremated and arrangements are being handled by Wilkinson Funeral Service in Buffalo, OK. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Jerry's life can be made to the VA or local animal shelter
