Hazel Lois Berends was born April 6, 1928, on the farm in Englewood, Kansas to Ephriam Joachim and Leona (Despain) Berends. Hazel Graduated from Englewood, High School as Valedictorian of her class. Hazel married Bobbie Lee Smith on May 18, 1946 in Englewood, Kansas, in the home of Kirby and Katherine Berends, to this union 4 children were born, Linda, Lana, Bobbie, and Chris. Hazel worked on the farm helping Bobbie with the daily farm chores, planting wheat, raising cattle. Hazel made the greatest cinnamon rolls, the best in the world to the family. Hazel hobbies were her farm life. Hazel loved eating out and trying different restaurants and she loved going to Walmart. Hazel lived with Audrey in Weatherford, Oklahoma and then for the past several years living with her son Chris in Prague, Oklahoma. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobbie on July 5, 2003; brothers, Clarence Claud, Coy Earnest, Carl Joe, Kirby, Elmer Wayne Berends; sister, Florence Irene Whisenhunt, Vera May Anderson, Zona Leona Berends, Ivy Luella Birch. Hazel left her earthly home on April 16, 2016 at the age of 88 years, and 10 day. Hazel leaves as her survivors Chris and wife Judy Smith of Prague, Oklahoma, Linda Smith of Liberal, Kansas, Lana and husband Del Henricks of Logan, Oklahoma, Bobbie and husband Clif Brinson of Laverne, Oklahoma; two sisters Audrey Smith and Lela Harrington: 5 Grandchild, 8 Great Grandchildren, other family and friends. Hazel will be greatly missed by family and friends.
