Harold P Hoffman was born December 18, 1935 in Rosston, OK to Joseph and Iva Hoffman. Harold was the baby of four onery Hoffman boys. Harold attended Buffalo schools all 12 years and graduated with the Class of 1954. Harold and Margie were united in marriage June 24, 1956 and to this union a son, Steven and a daughter, Sabrina were born. Harold and Margie celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Harold worked for many years at Oklahoma Dept. of Transportation, left ODOT to start a trucking business, HPH Trucking, that he and Margie operated for several years. Harold went back to ODOT for a few more years after selling the trucking business and retired serving 31 years for the State of Oklahoma. Throughout his many years in Buffalo, he also kept busy on evenings and weekends doing handyman jobs for Buffalo residents, always providing a high quality of work. After retiring from the highway department, he started spraying and mowing yards. He took great pride in his and his customers’ lawns, each summer you would see the Rain Train lawn tractors watering their 1+ acre yard nearly 24/7 assigning Steve and Sabrina the fun task of pulling up and repositioning the lawn tractors and hoses.
Harold lived all his 89 years in Buffalo except for the last three years, he resided in a long-term care facility, Evergreen Community of Johnson County in Olathe, KS so he could be near Sabrina and family. Harold missed his Buffalo family and friends, but he gained many new “family” members while a resident in Olathe. He was dearly loved by the Evergreen staff. Harold went to his heavenly home on March 12, 2025, surrounded by family
and the wonderful Evergreen hospice staff. Harold was proceeded in death by his loving wife Margie, son, Steven, his three brothers, Bud, Frank and John Hoffman and parents, Joseph and Iva Hoffman. He is survived by daughter, Sabrina Keidel of Lawrence, Kansas.
Harold was a proud and doting grandparent to Sabin Hoffman, Sara Bible, Andy Keidel and Brian Keidel. He cherished his great grandkids, Chloe, Sebastian, Jayda, Bridgette, Izayis, Amaya and Rylan. He also had a love for animals, always having a dog and cat, Lassie, Pup, Tosha, Ranger, Sam, Buddha and many more.
Harold never lost his sense of humor even after suffering a life altering stroke in July 2018. He joked and kidded with all who knew him. There was a time or two he thought he was funny by flattening one of Sabrina’s car tires so she would learn to change a tire herself if needed. Many of you will remember these statements, “Glad you got to see me” and “Come back when you can’t stay so long”. Harold had a few nicknames, Huffy, HP, HPH, Harold P and a grandson or two might have called him “old fart” once or twice.
Harold will be fondly remembered by him just being him, modest, kind, generous, caring, loving and many more precious traits.
Those we love don’t go away…they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Fish away HP.
