Gerald Wayne Scovel was born October 26, 1964, to Gene and Patsy (Vanderslice) Scovel in Buffalo, Oklahoma. Gerald attended school in Buffalo and graduated high school in May of 1983. Gerald continued his education attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University graduating in the spring of 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree. In the summer of 1988 Gerald continued is education receiving a Master’s degree majoring in Art Education and minoring in Health Physical Education and Recreation.
Gerald excelled academically, President Honor Roll, National Dean’s List, Education Leadership Oklahoma Program, graduating Cum Laude. Gerald professional experience included Assistant Women’s Basketball coach at Dodge City Community College; High school art instructor, basketball/track coach, and silversmithing. Gerald taught in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Texas during his teaching/coaching career.
Gerald favorite hobbies were all aspect of art, basketball, track, snow skiing, autograph collecting, and antiques. Gerald loved teaching, and encouraging students to further their artistic abilities.
On October 13, 2021 Gerald left his earthly home at the age of 56 years.
Gerald is survived by his parents Gene and Patsy Scovel of Buffalo, Oklahoma, brother Jeff Scovel of Seattle Washington, other relatives, co-workers, classroom students, and friends.
