Georgia Furgason

June 23, 1931 — September 26, 2023

Buffalo, OK

Georgia Lee Furgason was born in Buffalo, OK on June 23, 1931 on the family homestead to John Clarence and Hattie Mae (Brown) Furgason.  Georgia graduated from Buffalo High School with the Class of 1949 where she was active in Pep Club and FHA.  Georgia worked many various jobs throughout her youth in Buffalo but was remembered most for her 38 years at Oklahoma State Bank from 1955-1993.  Georgia's legacy was her role as the family caregiver.  She dedicated much of her life and time to caring for the Furgason parents, as well as later in life a cousin.  Georgia never missed acknowledging all the family birthdays with a card and cake.  Georgia was a family icon and provided a nice home cooked meal for family gatherings or a trip to the Buffalo diner for footlong chili cheese dogs and ice cream cones, as well as ensuring family photos were always taken.  Georgia's favorite past time or hobby was taking and collecting family photos, cards, letters or phone calls with updates from everyone.  She always cared about how each person was doing and what was going on in their lives.  After retirement Georgia enjoyed family visits, watching Westerns, Hallmark, or her favorite basketball team the Thunder on TV.    The Furgason siblings were always close and part of that was the phone tree the sisters had where they would call around and check on each other and also the extended family.  Georgia enjoyed family gatherings and seeing all her loved ones.  She leaves behind photo albums and more memories than can be counted. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; John Clarence and Hattie (Brown) Furgason; sisters/brothers-in-law: Virginia (Elmore) Dougherty, Mary Mae Owens, Hazel (Willis) Hayes, and brother/sister-in-law Sonny (Charlotte) Furgason, nieces Marilyn Brooks, Charlene Marvin, Melvin Bozarth, and nephew Bryan Carnagey.  Great nephews: Justin Brooks, Cody Jo Morris, Jason Lloyd Love.  Georgia left her earthly home on September 26th. Georgia is survived by her sisters; Tina (Bill) McMillian, Joyce (Dean) Carnagey and brother Charles Furgason as well as lots of nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews that love her like a mother.  Nieces:  Deanna Owens, Shirley Dougherty, Sandy (Tony) Clark, Debra Dodd, Kristal (Mike) Vaughan, Keri (Ken) Bodley, Debra Page, Mark Mayes, Jody (Bruce) Morris, Terry Bozarth, Linda (Randy) Price, Connie (Doug) Love, Brenda (Danny) Anderson, Nancy (Randy) Hammock, Denise (Jimmy) Turner, Deana (Joey Mapes) Carnagey; nephews: Milton (Julie) Dougherty, John (Kelly) Furgason, John Marvin, and David Brooks. While she will be missed by her many family members, they know there is definitely an angel watching over the family, and feel very blessed to have had her as their sister, aunt, cousin and friend. In lieu of flowers family and friends can chose to donate in her memory to St.Jude  https://www.stjude.org or to Humanity Hospice https://www.humanityhospice.com.
