Genevieve Prophet Owens:

Kanab, Utah

Genevieve Juliet Prophet Owens, age 87, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at her home in Kanab, Utah.  She was born  October 7, 1930 on the family farm just south in Buffalo, Oklahoma to Amanda Collins and James Henry Prophet. She attended the Buffalo High School to the 11 grade and later got her GED. She married Joe C. Owens on November 23, 1947 in Beaver, Oklahoma. Genevieve moved to Leadville, Colorado in 1951 then later moved to New Mexico in 1970, then finally made her home in Kanab, Utah in 1990. She was an old fashioned housewife, keeping the family finances, that keep the family farm intact, she enjoyed tatted, knitted, crocheted, sewing and loved to riding ATV’s and trail bikes and she survived the rides!  Genevieve has an older brother passed away before she was born. She was preceded in death by a grandson Eric James Gardner and her husband Joe passed July 3, 2017 in Kanab, Utah.

Genevieve is survived by her children Ron Owens of Kanab, and Connie Marlene (Gerald) Gardner of Gillette, Wyoming; and three grandsons Rogan, Tavis, and Christopher.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Kanab, with a graveside service at High Point Cemetery in Buffalo, Oklahoma, 10:00AM August 25, 2018.  Services arranged with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab and Wilkinson Funeral Service of Buffalo, Oklahoma.
