Doris Maxine (Schellhamer) McColm, was born on September 11, 1925 to Roy Sr. & Lena Schellhamer in Bucklin, Kansas. Doris grew up in the Bucklin area and graduated High school in 1943. Doris and Robert McColm were united in marriage September 16, 1944 on her family farm in Bucklin. To this union three daughters were born Elaine, Nancy and Mary. Doris was a homemaker and delighted in making a home for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved having her family around. She loved to sew and repaired many blue jeans and made quilts, and Easter dresses for her granddaughters, toys, and blankets. She actively helped Bob farm and ranch moving many irrigation pipes and serving many meals in the field. As their daughters grew up as a family many hours were spent at Cedar Bluff Lake water skiing. Even though she was afraid of the water she would drive the boat for Bob and their daughters so they could have fun. She was very busy with her church work. She taught Sunday School classes, VBS, Women’s Bible Study, and Youth Group. After retiring from the family farm and ranch Doris and Bob served as Missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators where they served in Peru and Duncanville, TX. When they retired from Wycliffe Bible Translators, they moved to Gunnison, CO and resided there until returning to Bucklin, KS where Doris was very active in the Bucklin Senior Center where she served as president. Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo, OK. Doris went to her eternal home on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at the Minneola District Hospital, Minneola, Kansas.
