Hazel Dawn (Meier) Wunsch Rogers
Hazel Dawn Meier was born on October 1, 1925 at Shattuck, Oklahoma to Edward & Agnes (Schickedanz) Meier. Dawn attended Fargo Schools and, upon graduation in 1943, was Valedictorian of her senior class. She taught school in a country school south of Shattuck for one year during World War II. She later attended Frank Phillips College at Borger, Texas. Dawn married Alvin Henry Wunsch December 23, 1944 at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho and to this union 5 children were born: Diana, Kay, Sharon, Connie, and a son Alan. Dawn was a bookkeeper and a house wife. Her husband Alvin passed away October 25, 1966. Dawn later married Lee Rogers on July 4, 1969 at Shattuck, Oklahoma and made their home in Buffalo, OK where they were very active in the First Baptist Church and other community activities. Dawn enjoyed reading books, watching soap operas, sewing, and bookkeeping for Lee’s radio business. Dawn was a member of the American Society of Germans from Russia. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents; Lee Rogers, husband; Edward Meier, brother; Della Morehart, sister; Connie Arlene Wunsch, daughter; and Alan Wunsch, son. Hazel Dawn Meier Wunsch Rogers went to be with the Lord June 28, 2013. She leaves as her survivors her daughters Diana Denton & husband Jon of Mustang, Oklahoma; Kay Bowles & husband Doug of Buffalo, Oklahoma; Sharon Wunsch of Mustang, Oklahoma; brother Eugene Meier & wife Rae Ann of Fargo, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family has suggested memorials be made to the Grace Living Center of Buffalo.
