David “Linn” Snell was born October 3, 1946 to Virgil L and Celia (Myers) Snell. He was welcomed home by his two older siblings Margaret Mae and Virgil Lee. He attended Buffalo Public Schools graduating with the class of 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Lee Jones, on June 5, 1965. They were blessed with three daughters, Paula Lee, Dena Linea and Carla Linn.
Linn served in the United States Air Force as an airplane electronic mechanic. He served in Vietnam. While stationed in Little Rock, AR they started their family. Paula Lee was born in 1969 and then Linn was honorably discharged in 1970. Linn and Barbara returned back to Buffalo where Linn helped with the family farm and worked at the Coop and as a carpenter. Dena Linea came along in 1974 and Carla Linn completed the family in 1976. Linn farmed and ranched along side his father and brother. While he was full time farming and ranching, he pumped wells for his brother-in-law Dwayne Freeman. After the passing of his father he partnered with his brother in the cattle / farming operation. When his brother passed he took on new partners. His grandson Jason, granddaughter Madi, and his great nephew Kirk Woodruff.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was active in the church as a deacon, later as an elder and served on many boards.
He served many years on the Buffalo Farmers Coop, Harper County Hospital and Buffalo Alumni boards.
He was very proud of his daughters, sons-in-law and his grandchildren. He spent many Friday nights following Justin and Jason and Braeden throughout their football and basketball games. He attended Madi’s activities and was always present for her to give him a poppy on Veterans Day! Later years he was proud to have his great- great nephew and nieces and “adopted” grandkids present him a poppy.
He was known for his ability to fix anything. He answered many phone calls from his daughters at all hours of the day and night, walking through the issues they had or telling them how to fix the problem. He was known to be called if there was a project that needed his carpentry skills or advice.
