Claudette Hensley

Claudette Ruth (Fox) Hensley was born November 2, 1933 in Ashland, Kansas to Roy Lee and Ruth (Wright) Fox. Claudette left this earthly life on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Ashland Health Center with her family by her bedside. Claudette lived in the Lexington community until the death of her father Roy in 1938. The family then moved to Ashland, KS.  She attended school in Ashland and graduated with the Class of 1951. She was employed as a telephone operator until her marriage to Thomas Edward Hensley on January 24, 1955. To this union they were blessed with four children, Russell, Melanie, Cindy and Karen.  After raising her children, Claudette, alongside her husband owned and operated the BlueJay Drive In and later Plantland Floral Shop and Greenhouse in Ashland. Later moving to Fritch TX opening a floral shop “Flowers and Such”.  After several years they returning to Ashland to retire. Claudette enjoyed sharing her wonderful talent of cooking and baking, tending to her flowers and gardens, spending time with her family, learning to use the computer and taking care of her beloved pets. Claudette is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom, siblings, Gene Fox, and Verona (Fox) Trease.

Her survivors include children, Russell Hensley and wife Liz, Melanie Hink and husband Bill all of Ashland, KS, Cindy Hensley and friend Lee Peltier of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, Karen Lusk and husband Danny Ray of Borger, TX, sister, Virginia Abbott of Agra, KS. Grandchildren, Dusty Hink and wife Jenny, Max Lusk, Kirstie Rudzik and husband Randy, Chase Gean and Nicole Brown, Blaze Gean and April Sawyers. Great grandchildren, Gus, Ryatt, Rebel, Pate, Jace, Jaden, Kyle, Luke, and Milee.

Services will be held at The First Christian Church 507 Highland Street, Ashland, KS on September 1st, 2018 at 1:30 pm, burial will take place at The Highland and St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashland.  Claudette being a breast cancer survivor the family request memorials to WEPAC Alliance PO Box 949, Ashland, KS 67831.
