Aladine B (Cline) Watson was born October 24, 1928 in Ashland to Fay and Gladys (Durham) Cline. She was raised in Ashland and attended school there, graduating iwith the class of 1946. On June 30, 1946 in Protection, KS, Aladine married Otis Melvin Watson, who had recently returned from serving in the Navy in WWII. They became the parents of three children: Melvin Ray, Ronald Fay and Janeice Joan. Aladine was a cook and then head cook in the kitchen of USD 220 Ashland schools for 25 years, retiring in 1990. After retiring she enjoyed helping out at the Ashland Senior Center with the lunches served there including driving the bus well into her 80’s. She was an active member of the Christian Church in Ashland. Otis and Aladine shared many special times, raising their family and working together. They enjoyed many motorcycle trips and traveling to a large part of the continental US. Later they traveled in their RV camper. They enjoyed being with their family, camping, fishing, boating and water skiing. They loved to watch their grandchildren grow and enjoyed attending their activities and sporting events. Friends could always drop by to visit and share a cup of coffee. Aladine loved her garden, especially flowers, enjoyed reading and crafts, mostly crocheting. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family. Aladine was preceded in death by her loving husband and partner of 56 years, Otis; brothers Harold and Eldo; sister Wanda; son-in-law Paul Cullimore and a great grandson. Aladine B Watson left this life March 10, 2025 at Ashland Health Center in Ashland, Kansas at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 10 days.
She is survived by her sons Mel Watson (Jolene) and Ron Watson, daughter Janeice Cullimore, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of the Prairie, P.O. Box 1298, Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
Funeral service will be held 9:00AM Saturday March 15, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Ashland, Kansas, the burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
